"Collioure is a small fishing port near Perpignan on the rocky coast of the Mediterranean. In the past, the beautiful Catalan boats would take a nap in the sun on the beach of Collioure where they were often hoisted. Their multi-colored bands of color were dazzling! This is what attracted Fauvist painters like Henri Matisse a century earlier, who recognized the power of these colors that he translated so well in his paintings. The Colioure canvas is available in 2 colors: red and blue. It was, in fact, unthinkable to evoke only one harmony."
