Since the end of the 19th century, the last textile factory in the village of Saint Laurent de Cerdans has endured and reinvented itself. The weaving of Catalan fabrics , the pride of Haut Vallespir, has never ceased to offer ever more original and modern creations.

An immutable know-how whose secret lies in the transmission by highly qualified women and men of techniques and gestures to future generations of the workshop . There is here something of the order of filiation, a search for excellence and the preservation of heritage, a know-how built over time, thus perpetuating a timeless craft.

It is likely that we are the only ones in France , or even in Europe, to use old Diederichs shuttle looms to make our weavings . These rare looms produce a continuous selvedge that guarantees the solidity and a refined finish of our striped canvases , which only Les Toiles du Soleil is still able to offer.

These tools also allow us to obtain canvases of exceptional quality that cannot be produced by new models of weaving machines. Thanks to these ancient looms, we are able to produce unique canvases , with original designs , using high quality yarns, composed of plant fibers and natural materials .

The use of traditional techniques allows us to maintain the authenticity and history of our craft while incorporating it into a process of permanent innovation. Our canvases thus develop a palette of colors of incomparable richness .

From a base of 35 colours and by combining threads of different colours, an infinite number of shades are created which allow for all daring and to shatter the limits of creativity.

For over 150 years, Les Toiles du Soleil has been developing its business in the heart of the Catalan country , thus contributing to the economic and social development of the territory . We are proud to play a major role in preserving the know-how and skills related to our rare trades and in creating jobs in the Haut-Vallespir basin.
